Tokyo Academics is the passion project of a constellation of teachers, researchers, and academics from around the world. Since 2012, we’ve evolved from a few university friends to a growing number of part-time and full-time individuals located in Tokyo, as well as working remotely. We are always looking for outstanding individuals to join our tutoring and teaching team. We are currently looking for a Division Manager to mentor and train a cohort of our teachers. This role will work closely with our Academic Director to facilitate training, manage tutors, track student progress, as well as work on other projects. This role will be based out of our Tokyo office and working during regular business hours of 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Japan time.

What you will be doing
(based on your background/capability and client needs)
Teach and mentor students both one-on-one and in classes.
Core subjects include (not all are required):
Reading comprehension (elementary to AP/IB or equivalent)
Writing (elementary to AP/IB or equivalent)
Math (elementary to calculus)
History (World, US, & European)
Chemistry, Physics, Biology AP/IB or equivalent)
Standardized Test Prep (SAT/ACT, SSAT/ISEE, etc.)
Our students range from elementary, middle, and high school. We do our best to match you with students in your capable subject areas (please indicate in your application).
Manage and mentor academic instructors
Manage the quality of teaching in private lessons and group classes, as well as with various subjects and age ranges
Increase the division’s revenue, service hours and unique students
Maintain the division’s internal costs, teaching quality and trainer quality
Support the tutor hiring process with interviews and reviews
Communicate directly with upper management regarding performance, student scheduling, and goal progress
Work towards opportunities for greater responsibility and commensurate compensation - this is a management track
Project work based on previous experience: curriculum development, teacher training and quality assurance, recruiting, and new service development among others
